With 2+ Million Acres of Public Land – Natural Resources are the Heart of the Pennsylvania Wilds Lifestyle and Economy.

For us – conservation is not just a buzzword.

Stewardship of the natural environment is our way of life.

OUR CONSERVATION LEGACY

The Pennsylvania Wilds is a special place in America: 50 state game lands, 29 state parks, 8 state forests, 1 national forest and 16,000 miles of streams and rivers. It’s a lot to take care of, and throughout history, it hasn’t always been easy. It has been our spirit of stewardship and conservation that has made the Pennsylvania Wilds home to 70% of our nation’s finest headwaters, a $1.7 billion tourism industry, and to many people and industries who are able to make their living from the woods.

JOIN US TO PARTNER IN CONSERVATION

The PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship encourages shoppers to donate as part of the Checkout for Conservation program at the PA Wilds Conservation Shops and at the PA Wilds Marketplace online. These donations (100% of them!) go to the PA Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF) to help fund maintenance and special projects at state parks and forests in the 13-county PA Wilds region.

Founded in 1999, PPFF is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to inspiring stewardship of Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests. Their mission is to inspire stewardship of Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests through public engagement in volunteerism, education and recreation. PPFF helps support park and forest friends groups, does advocacy work related to its mission, provides educational programming and training, and helps with special projects that make exploring the outdoors meaningful and accessible.

How are the funds used?

The first slate of projects, completed in 2020, included new interpretive panels at Bald Eagle State Park, and assisting the Kinzua Bridge Foundation with playground equipment at Kinzua Bridge State Park. Those are your donations in effect! As another one of the upcoming projects, PPFF is implementing a new accessibility project: installing viewfinders at select state park and forest locations around the region that will allow colorblind people to see color.

Now you can be a conservation partner too!

It's simple. During check-out, choose a donation amount, and it will be added to your cart total. 100% of the round up proceeds will help the PA Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF) fund special projects in state parks and forests that are within the Pennsylvania Wilds region. So far, nearly $50,000 has been raised!

New Look & New Vendors - We hope you enjoy our new Marketplace!

We recently transitioned from an online gift shop to a maker marketplace. This means that instead of only selling products from PA Wilds Conservation Shops, various artisans and craftspeople from the PA Wilds now sell on our platform with us! (That’s why it’s now the PA Wilds Marketplace!)  This equates to more awesome products for you and more opportunities for our rural makers. Please bear with us as we finalize this new ecommerce platform, and have fun meeting our first batch of participating artisan makers!
