What started as a surprise from Agnus the chicken has turned into a region-wide outdoor egg hunt game for Allegheny Nesting, a homestead and artisan business in the PA Wilds.
As we approach Valentine's Day, our hearts are filled with love... not just for our sweethearts, but also for the special place we call the PA Wilds! There are plenty of reasons to love this region: the awe-inspiring landscape that surrounds us, the family and friends we can share memories with, and the creative endeavors of our PA Wilds entrepreneurs. Our Pennsylvania Wilds region gives us plenty of reasons to love it, especially with its rich history and endless variety of natural beauty. Jillia English, owner of Jillia Ceramics, has partnered with the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship to create PA Wilds-inspired and branded mugs, which are available on the PA Wilds Marketplace. In addition to portraying the beauty of the region, a portion of proceeds from each PA Wilds-branded mug sold will help support the PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship’s mission to integrate conservation and economic development in a way that strengthens and inspires communities in the Pennsylvania Wilds.

Our hearts are filled with hope and thankfulness as we enter into a new year for the PA Wilds Marketplace. This has been a year of continued growth, inspiration, and innovation for the PA Wilds Marketplace. The online platform was launched in 2021, and 2023 was a year where the marketplace found a solid base of makers who are selling their products and excited customers who are thrilled to be able to buy a locally handcrafted gift.
Goot Essa has been honored with a prestigious award at the 2023 American Cheese Society (ACS) competition. Their gourmet Emanuel Vom Tal Kase was awarded 3rd place in the “Soft-Ripened Cheeses” category. This recognition is a testament to their artisanal cheesemaking expertise, and reflects their rich Pennsylvania Dutch cheesemaking heritage.
Of A Predatory Heart by Joe Parry, a reprint of an outdoor enthusiast and veteran's short stories is now available on the PA Wilds Marketplace, under Kevin Coolidge's storefront.
Although the weather was a little iffy, the October Pop-Up Kitchen and Marketplace on October 21 at Village Eatinghouse was a success! Folks enjoyed the hayride, fire ring, vendors, winery, and our own flavorful food! The day was perfect!
