Joyous holidays and a wonderful winter in the PA Wilds

Despite the cold temperatures and long nights, winter gives us so many reasons to celebrate in the Pennsylvania Wilds.

Having four distinct seasons is part of the region’s allure, and each season brings with it something special. Truly, one of the most beautiful times to visit the Pennsylvania Wilds is winter time. Although the lush leaves have fallen, the land is often sprinkled with snowy white dust, the air is crisp and familiar views suddenly have a new aesthetic.

Families are also able to find new adventures in the wintertime that are not possible in other seasons. For some, it wouldn't feel like winter without getting outdoors with activities like cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing or snowmobiling. Or if you're looking for something more relaxing, why not sit back and watch the cardinals eating from a birdfeeder or help the grandkids make a snowman?

Winter in the PA Wilds is also a time to draw close to our loved ones and celebrate our relationships with them. Families visit for the holidays, making new memories and reminiscing about the past.

Families, friends, neighbors and colleagues exchange brightly wrapped presents, showing their love and appreciation through the kinds of gifts that mean so much more than just a physical objects.

The air fills with the sounds of the season: cousins giggling together, church bells, favorite Christmas songs, familiar movies playing in the background, Grandpa chuckling, cards shuffling, a log crackling in a fireplace. The smells of the season are there too: pine needles, Grandma's perfume, a wood furnace, a turkey cooking in the oven.

However you may be celebrating this season, we wish you and yours a very happy, healthy, joyous time!
