"Daily discoveries in the PA Wilds are reflected in my work. I geek out over the patterns of bark, sedimentary rocks, water ripples and the perfect symmetry of flowers"
Do you like to learn new things? You NEVER know where the decision to try something new will lead! A drawing pencil has been in my hand for as long as I can remember. Since 2003 I have been painting however, it was a shabori dying class at the local library about 12 years ago that "rocked my world" and sparked my passion for painting on silk.
The process of watching dyes move on silk fibers never ceases to delight me, the colors creep along the threads blending with one another creating the most wonderful surprises! Each and every silk piece that I paint is completely unique, no two will EVER be exactly the same - how wonderful is that? The process and result reinforces my belief that everyone deserves to have something beautiful that is as unique as them and is theirs alone.
Morning strolls with my little doxie Monty leads to investigations and appreciation of spiderwebs, water tumbling in the streams and leaves budding out; these daily discoveries in the PAWilds are reflected in my work. I geek out over the patterns of bark, sedimentary rocks, water ripples and the perfect symmetry of flowers.
In addition to layering yummy colors onto silk I also paint with acrylics, play with mixed media and create detailed ink drawing; the mood, theme or message that I am inspired to capture as visual art will determine the medium that I chose for the project.
